The Bonhams Quail Lodge Auction
The range of cars SEGAL Motorcar is bringing to Monterey reflects this varied degree of interest. From a 1940 Ford V8 coupe, classic Americana, to a 1981 Ferrari 308 with only 3000 original kilometres, to an Autobahn blazing Porsche 964 Turbo. Each car being unique in its own way and appealing to a different auto enthusiast, all who will be present in Monterey.
The 1940 Ford is about as iconic a pre war automobile as you can get. The flathead V8 was already made a legend by the likes of John Dillinger in the 30's but coming out of the depression era this 40 Ford was positively luxurious. It not only was more forward looking in it aerodynamic shape but sported a fully upholstered interior with art deco gauges and beautiful stainless and chrome trim on the body. Performance was not diminished and the 1940 Ford with the flathead V8 became a popular choice of the moonshine runners in the southern states. This particular example has had every nut and bolt restored to better than original condition and is ready for show, or to throw a couple cases in the trunk and pretend you are Junior Johnson running from the law through the back woods.
The 1981 Ferrari 308GTSi is a time capsule on wheels. It was delivered new by Yonge + Steeles motors, the authorized new Ferrari dealer in Toronto Canada at the time, and has traveled just slightly over 3,000 kilometers since. It is believed to be a two owner car from new with the current owner having the car for over 14 years. It has everything as delivered from Ferrari, the most important being its service book and original tool roll and jack. The car was recently treated to a full timing belt service and suspension rebuild by Massimo Conti of Daytona Auto Service. Mr. Conti, who is an ex Ferrari factory F1 team mechanic, has ensured this car is ready to be used to its maximum potential should the next owner choose to do so.
The 1991 964 Turbo is one of the last generation of the big single turbo 911's. This was one of the most visceral of 911's owing to its light weight, the tremendous amount of power produced by its 3.3 liter flat 6 engine, and two wheel drive. In its day, before the addition of traction control and all wheel drive to the turbo line, it gained a reputation as being a very rewarding car to drive for those with the skill and the nerve to challenge it, but a demon to the rest.
This particular 964 has travelled just over 27 thousand miles since it was delivered new in Florida. It is complete stock with the exception of the addition of later factory correct polished Speedline wheels from a 1994 model. It features the unique option of supple leather interior and full power seats to comfort the driver as he tries to control its unbridled 320hp. Thankfully it also has a factory limited slip differential to assist in that task as well.

After what felt like a marathon long cold winter, we were ALL ready for a fun filled, extremely exciting Toronto Collector Car Auction.
With over 250 vehicles presented, from 1910 all the way to 2015 model year Dodge Hellcat, the range of vehicles offered had something for everyone!
We at Segal Motorcar presented 17 vehicles. Four of the offerings presented at "No-Reserve". The bidding was extremely spirited and the quality of our vehicles presented wonderful.
We are extremely Happy to report we sold 14 of our 17 vehicles offered, recording the highest sale percentage ever in our 30 Plus years history, 77%. An extremely strong result indeed.
We also were able to acquire three gorgeous motorcars: A 2013 Camaro ZL1 Convertible with a mere 3,000 Original Kilometers, a 1957 GMC Custom Resto-Mod pickup (the finest of it's kind we have ever seen), and a 1940 Chrysler Newport 392 HEMI custom built roadster with only 845 Original Miles. There were only Six of this model ever built, one leading as the Official Pace Car for the 1940 Indy 500. This steel body custom build took over 2000 man hours to complete. The total original investment to build crested $200,000 US Dollars. It is simply spectacular, unique, and is 1 of 1 in Canada!

The Amelia Island Auction week began with Bonhams hosting their first Auction at Amelia Island. Anticipated by both buyers, and sellers, this sale proved to be a terrific success. We at Segal Motorcar were proud to offer for sale a 1961 Porsche 356B Cabriolet. It was the first vehicle we have commissioned a ground up restoration on. A very special motorcar that we had opportunity to acquire from the previous owner of over forty years! The restoration took over two years to complete, well over the original time allotted. The result was simply spectacular. The vehicle garnered attention world wide. Once the auction began, bidding was extremely spirited, with 4 bidders live in the room, three telephone bidders from Europe and Asia, and even one Internet bidder who ultimately purchased this special Porsche. The final sale price was $152,000 US. Dollars plus ten percent buyers premium.

Friday March 13th was Gooding and Companys auction day. Mr Jeffrey Seigel of Segal Motorcar, after many months of deliberation, offered for sale simply one of the Finest Ferrari 308 GTB Vetroresina cars in existence. In his personal collection for over fourteen years he decided to pass this vehicle on to its next custodian as it deserves to be enjoyed on the open road once again.
Gooding And Company and Mr Seigel were so confident in this vehicle, it was elected to sell at No Reserve. There was much anticipation of this vehicle world wide and it was discussed at length on various Ferrari Internet forums. The vehicle untimately sold for $175,000 US Dollars plus ten percent buyers premium. The purchaser did extremely well, and can be proud to have acquired what we believe is the finest, most honest of it's kind in existence.

Barrett Jackson Scottsdale 2015 Results
After years of anticipation, careful planning, we at Segal Motor Car were able to attend, and participate in the World's Largest Collector Car Auction event.
Each year Barrett-Jackson Grows in physical size, and one vendor in particular assured this would be Barrett Jacksons largest sale yet. Ron Pratte. The Ron Pratte collection was amassed over a 15 year period. It not only contained 300 special vehicles, but possibly the finest automobilia collection on the planet. Most items were sold at No Reserve, and the result, over $40 Million Dollars sold from a single collection. Well done!
We were excited to present 5 special vehicles over several days of selling. An incredible experience, and definately one we will continue to be a part of for many years to come.
We also had the privilege of purchasing an extremely special motorcar. A frame off restored 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Convertible. An extremely sought after model with some quite unique factory options. This "Tri Five" Chevy Convertible is a vehicle that can be enjoyed, while appreciating in value. Awesome!

It was a beautiful sunny January morning on sale day in Scottsdale, presented by Bonham's Auction. The oldest auction house in the world.
The event began with a beautifully elegant ?breakfast sponsored by Bonhams surrounded by 84 of some of the most elegant classic motorcars on the planet!
We consigned a wonderfully elegant 1960 Austin Healey 3000 Mark 1. A special British sportscar in classic British racing green with tan leather interior. This was a frame off restored motorcar, previously sold by us to one of our valued customers the we reacquired on trade for another vehicle. We are committed to our customer base, and it is continually proven with repeat business.
When our Healey rolled to the auction block bidding was spirited, both in the auction room, and, on the phone with bidders from all over the world. The Gavel Fell, another SOLD special motorcar that will be enjoyed for many years to come. Our Segal Motorcar family grows!

With over 8,500 in attendance on Saturday alone at the Toronto International Center , to say the Classic Car Auction was a success is an understatement. It was quite possibly the largest group of automotive enthusiasts ever gathered for this bi-annual Toronto sale. The results speak for themselves with a sold percentage for the auction as well as ourselves of over seventy percent.
With cars, trucks and motor bikes, ranging in years of production from 1931-2011 there was something for everyone.
We were extremely fortunate to present 20 vehicles, and 1 motorcycle for this auction, and felt the current healthy market allowed us to confidently sell TEN of them at NO-RESERVE to the highest bidder.
Some of the unique vehicle we at Segal Motor Car presented were a spectacular 1957 Chevrolet Step Side pick up fully restored, to an extremely rare classic 1983 Maserati Quattroporte 4.9, to an incredible last year production 1989 Mercedes 560 SL Roadster with only 47,000 Kilometers, to a modern day 1999 Dodge Viper RT/10 Roadster with only 9,300 Kilometers and only 1 previous owner !
We at Segal Motor Car also had the privilege of celebrating our 30th Year Anniversary in business this auction weekend.
As a gesture we felt privileged to sell our 1960's Zwerad Union Motorcycle with 100 Percent of the auction proceeds being donated to the Kidney foundation in memory of Harvey Seigel (Our presidents father). It proved to be a very exciting, and emotional moment as the gavel hammered SOLD with a total of $6,000 being donated. Thank you to the lucky buyer R.S., as you have done a wonderful deed for an outstanding cause. Many thank's also go to CCPauctions, as they matched the winning bid and donated an additional $3,000 to The Kidney foundation.

The level of display, and experience had by all, was incredible. The vehicles in attendance, by invited entrants, were voted on by a select board of judges for uniqueness, provenance, originality, and in some classes restoration level.
246 GT "M" series coupe. This particular vehicle had just completed a very long journey of restoration that began in 1986, and was completed just 9 days prior to this event (over 28 years!).
Sunday was judging day, and each vehicle in class was subject to scrunity by 5 judges. Scoring each vehicle was done privately amongst the judges, and ultimately a 1st place 2nd place and 3rd place trophies/ribbon's were awarded accordingly.
We, at SEGAL Motorcar, were blessed that all of the many hours of research, and hard work paid off. We were awarded 1st place in the pre 1973 european sports car division. An honor that we will cherish for a lifetime.
Our thanks, and special wishes, goes out to the McLease family and all of their staff at The Inn at Cobble Beach, Owen, for making us all feel so welcome, and part of their family.

Diverse, is the Best word to describe Collector Car Productions Toronto Spring Classic Car Auction 2014.
A huge crowd of enthusiasts, gathered to enjoy special vehicles of virtually all years, makes and model.
All were presented in an easy atmosphere prior to the auction, which gave ample time for potential bidders to do their due diligence and prepare themselves for an incredibly exciting auction.
The attendance on Saturday alone was over 8,000 Enthusiasts and collectors alike!
We at Segal Motor Car, presented vehicles ranging in year from 1939 to 2012. A wide variety to appeal to all tastes.From a 1939 Dodge HEMI Custom "Hot Rod", to an incredible 1968 Camaro RS Frame-off Restoration Convertible, a 1988 1/2 Ferrari 328 GTS, to several Classic Mercedes SL Roadsters!! All of OUR vehicles were presented with documentation, and were fully Certified to provide ultimate confidence with the Vehicle, and ultimately Our Brand as a vendor.
The result for us was a Sold percentage of 73-percent! 11 out of 15 vehicles total. Very strong indeed.

Another World Record amid an extremely healthy collector Car market.The auctions at Amelia island 2014 proved to be entertaining to enthusiasts, collectors and spectators alike. An extremely healthy and strong economic environment brings brought some VERY special vehicles to market.
We were proud to be part of the RM Amelia Island Auction as a vendor. We brought to auction a spectacular 1974 Ferrari 246 GTS Spyder and were privileged to be chosen by RM to be one of the eighteen feature vehicles to be displayed in the main ballroom of the Ritz Carlton Amelia Island.
We felt so confident with the quality of this Ferrari Dino, we chose to sell it at NO-RESERVE and let the market set the ultimate final price. When the gavel fell a New World record price was set for a Ferrari 246 GTS Spyder (non flairs and chairs car) at $390,000* US Dollars. A special price for a special Ferrari indeed. The fortunate purchaser will enjoy many driving days, and can be proud to have acquired one of the best.

The RM Monterey Collector Car Auction 2013 is highlighted by select, sought after collector cars presented by enthusiasts from all over the world!
These collector cars were hand picked for condition, provenance, originality and uniqueness by RM Auctions. Sale prices for vehicles ranged from $57,500, to the largest price ever realized for a road vehicle at auction. A 1967 Ferrari 275 GTS4 NART Spyder (1-of-10 ever built) at a staggering $25,000,000 US Dollars, plus 10 percent buyers premium!
We, at Segal Motor Car were proud, and fortunate, to make our international auction debut at this event with the qualification, and acceptance of what we believed to be the finest 1971 Ferrari 365 GTC4 Coupes in existence today!
As Our Ferrari 365 GTC4 V/12 Coupe entered the room and rolled to the stage, bidding began at a frenzy. Multiple bidders in the room as well as multiple phone bidders from all from all over the world. The atmosphere was electric and the rapid pace of the bidding was almost hard to follow.
Ultimately the Gavel fell, the final hammer price being $250,000 US Dollars plus 10 percent buyers premium.
This set a new record price for this model Ferrari. It eclipsed all previous sales by $78,500 US Dollars. The fortunate new owner can be proud of acquiring an exceptional Ferrari.

The atmosphere was an exciting one with an amazing amount of positive
energy from everyone involved. The fun factor of the entire weekend was
at an all time high with peoples spirits buoyed by the action on and off
the auction block.
Attendance at the auction for Saturday alone was record breaking
reaching almost 9,000 persons! Total attendance for the weekend
amounted to well over 16,000 enthusiasts.
The largest dilemma in today's collector car market still proves to
be locating quality vehicles. The volume of vehicles available at
auction this weekend, and as a rule today, proves to be far lower than
in the past.
The collector vehicle market continues to gain traction and there are
far more buyers today than sellers for quality vehicles in the
marketplace. Quite simply put, if the vehicle is desirable, and special,
it is not unreasonable to obtain a one hundred percent return in the
future. The most desirable vehicles have shown a trend to even
appreciate in value for the foreseeable future.
We, at Segal Motor Car had an incredible time the entire Auction
weekend. We enjoyed seeing our semi-annual auction guests, returning
customers, and friends. All the while meeting many new fellow
enthusiasts.
We sold eleven of our vehicles. Five of these vehicles were sold at
NO-RESERVE , showing our extreme confidence not only in the strength of
the collector car market but also of this sale.

The auction proved to be fun and exciting, It was great to see our regular semi-annual attendees, as well as having the opportunity meet so many new and fresh faces that we will hopefully develop long-term relationships with for years to come.
There were many great vehicles for all to enjoy and the level of product was at its best in years.
As always, quality, low mileage, special and affordable vehicles prove to be at a premium. These cars prove to be fun, reliable, blue-chip investments. (Far better than putting our hard earned money in the markets of recent-time).
Segal Motor Car had a great event bringing to the auction a variety of quality, unique and different product for people of all descriptions. We brought 16 vehicles in total, selling 11 for a sales percentage of 68.75 percent sales rate. (Strong for a Fall sale indeed). We also, sold 5 of our cars at No-Reserve Price including a 2004 Bentley GT Coupe at No-Reserve for final sale price of $78,100. (Confidence in a quality Bentley and the Auction-venue).
The Auction was a smooth, beautifully run event. Well done and our compliments to Dan Spendick and everyone at ccpauctions!
The following week after the auction proved to show us that the people at the sale particularly liked, enjoyed, and understood the effort We at Segal motor Car put into our vehicles, and the relationships we develop with our customers by visiting our showroom, and we even sold 2 additional different vehicles from our vast current inventory.
